Oil/Water/Gas Treatment Unit Independent Process Design Review
The client, a modular design, fabrication, and construction company based in Canada, contracted Process Engineering International (PROCESS) to perform a third-party review of a process design basis, HYSYS simulation/heat and material balance, and associated Process Flow Diagrams (PFDs) for oil/water/gas treatment units and processes injection gas that is above the critical point. The modular units will ultimately be installed on Alaska’s North Slope.
PROCESS reviewed and commented on the process design information that the client developed. The review consisted of providing comments related to the process design basis, HYSYS simulation model, and unit operations as noted on the PFD with a focus on the following operations that are designed for extremely cold environments:
- Knockout Drum for Flare
- Cyclone Separator
- Pigging System Design
- Inlet Separator
- Low-Pressure Separator
- Printed Circuit Heat Exchanger
PROCESS also suggested the correct HYSYS simulation package for modeling H2S in water and provided general comments and recommendations related to the PFD.
A brief summary was provided to the client, addressing client questions and containing comments and recommendations for improvements.
