According to Reuters, as of September 5, 2023, crude oil prices have hit their highest level since November. With high oil prices, refiners are looking for ways to improve efficiencies. One area that can be optimized in most refineries is the Crude Distillation Unit (CDU). The CDU can be revamped to optimize running on today’s crude which is likely different from the crude that was used to design the CDU. Refineries can also look at using different crude sources or a mix of crudes to improve overall refinery economics.
